The Electronic Discovery Reference Model is central in any discussion of e-discovery.
"The EDRM processes are iterative. Actions may loop like a computer program if or when additional information comes to light. You won’t proceed through the stages linearly. The processing of data may bring to light new data to identify. And identifying new data may uncover additional key players with more information to contribute. E-discovery is really an algorithmic endeavor whose finite steps are determined by case, jurisdictional, and court parameters."
-- From Chapter 4: Records Management in Context in Point-To-Point: E-Discovery on the Fly, my book due out next spring intended for small firm legal professionals and solo lawyers facing e-discovery on a scale previously not encountered.
