Why Trump Will Be Overwhelmingly Re-elected

Since the beginning of 2020, our country has faced challenge after challenge. Through it all has been the one person we have needed at the helm. Donald J. Trump. What we needed was for the federal government to spend, spend, spend, and close everything down. Trump led the charge or at least did not stand in the way.

During the Great Depression, when FDR took office, he at first thought balancing the budget was how to bring the economy back. He soon realized what was needed was massive spending on an unprecedented scale.

Trump, through Mnuchin, made clear to Pelosi and McConnell that he wanted even bigger and bolder spending. He wanted more paid sick leave, a payroll tax holiday, and student loan debt deferrals.

This is not Trump’s nature, really. He was more inclined toward rather traditional GOP principles, such as cutting social spending, maintaining a beefy defense budget, cutting back on the federal bureaucracy and giving tax cuts to corporations.

Trump’s Twitter conduct, his attacks and bullying of the press aside, he is the first president in history to keep -- or try to keep -- every promise he made during his campaign.

To quote Don Buckingham’s list of these promises, they include:

“(B)uild the wall, cut taxes, support our vets, end burdensome government regulations, support coal and natural gas making our country energy independent, appointing conservative judges to the Supreme Court, defeating Isis, keeping and securing oil fields, dealing with other countries like China to get rid of unfair trade deals to bring more jobs to the U.S., supporting our law enforcement officials, getting tough on and actually talking with North Korea and getting out of the Iran nuclear deal.

These are just a few. There is one big one still left undone.

That is draining the swamp in Washington, and that swamp is turning out to be awful deep. It’s going to continue to be an uphill battle, but I think he just might get it done.”

If we get through this mess without total collapse – a collapse some elements of our country seem to be rooting for – Trump will be overwhelmingly re-elected.
