Rachel's New Clothes

Does anyone else find this whole Rachel Dolezal situation strange and not just a little sad? I hope most agree that there should be no barriers for anyone wanting to advocate the advancement of a group or a people. But why the subterfuge? Or is it subterfuge? Maybe not.

Is Rachel just a poseur? The practice of presenting a facade in order to affect an image of oneself for what almost always turns out to be only momentary gain, is so disingenuous, so deceitful as to call into question ones core honesty and integrity.

Rachel Dolezal is no outlier blazing new trails of trans-identity. She is representative of many who seem to need to hide within an identity they don't really have. They are reality's aborted dreams. They are the emperors swindled by their own greed who end up naked before everyone. (See, The Emperor's New Clothes, at http://bit.ly/19Umiv7.

In the coming months of political jockeying, we ordinary citizens need some way to discern and uncover political poseurs for what they are. We don't need to rehabilitate them, just identify them and not vote for them. Like the emperor in his underwear, they will continue with their silly parade embarrassed, perhaps, but unable to admit they had been fooled by their own lust for power, or fame, or money -- or whatever motivates them. We only need to identify them, denounce them, and keep searching for those with the honesty and integrity deserving of a public steward. Because that is what office holders are, stewards of our rights.
